Out of box WordPress setup on HostGator India

I set up a sub-domain a while ago and measured the load time right after installation, with the default theme and nothing else loaded. No configuration, no plugins, no posts, nothing.

See also Out of box WordPress setup on SiteGround to compare.

So OOB results are as follows:

After a couple posts added

One can see that the size has increased from 294KB to 348KB, but the load time is roughly 3 secs.

Change of theme

Next I changed the theme to Colorlib Sparkling, and as expected the size went up, but the load time roughly remained the same.

Increase in image sizes displayed in this post

Next I changed the sizes of all the images in this post to large since they were not very clear in medium size. Again, as expected, the size went up, and the load time went up a bit. The load size seems to be quite consistent across Pingdom, GTMetrix and my own setup.

At this point, the size of the load is roughly 990 KB as reported by Pingdom / GTMetrix and my own setup. The load time is Pingdom = 4.01s from San Jose, GTMetrix = 3.8s from Vancouver and Vivaldi = 2.43s.

Some more changes

  1. Added SiteOrigin Page Builder plugin.
  2. Added the SiteOrigin widgets (mandatory)
  3. Added Simple Lightbox to open the images in a pop-up box instead of in-window.

At this point, the size of the load is 1.1 as reported by Pingdom / GTMetrix and my own setup. The load time is Pingdom = 4.2s from Dallas, GTMetrix = 3.8s from Vancouver and Vivaldi = 2.98s.
